Clubrainbow

Solutions

  • Inform people to download adobe reader for quick links to forms (e.g: Credit Card/ Cheque Donation)
  • They have a dataform in their website so that people need not sign in their email account just to mail the staffs.

Evaluating

Social media

  • The announcements made in the blog roll. In their blog roll, they inform people of what events they have and the things that they need at the club rainbow. This is a good way as it attracts attention of the people through it’s moving blog roll. Futhermore, when we move our cursor to the blog roll, it stops. Therefore, it makes easier for people to read when the blog roll stops.
  • They have a hotline for people to call if people have any enquiries or questions to ask about the club rainbow.
  • They have links to emails of the staffs there for people to contact them through the mail.

New media

  • They have a website whereby people can donate through the internet which means that it is taken from their credit cards.
  • They have two other languages (Chinese and Malay) for other races to refer to if they don’t understand English.
  • They make use of the google street directory which makes it easier for people to confirm where the place is exactly located at. Futhermore, people can know the places which are nearby there.

Children aids society

Solutions

  • They have a blog roll of pictures which makes their website look not boring.
  • They have their own search engine for people to find information about their organisation.

Evaluating

Social media

  • The announcements made in the blog roll. In their blog roll, they inform people of the upcoming programmes and projects that they have in the children’s aid society. People need not call to ask what are their upcoming programmes or projects. Futhermore, when we move our cursor to the blog roll, it stops. Therefore, it makes easier for people to read when the blog roll stops.
  • They provide the children’s aid society staffs email.

New media

  • They have a google search engine in their website for people to find a topic easier. People do not have to browse through all the websites just to find what they want to know. (For example, people want to find about the donations but they realise that they can’t find the link. They can just type ‘donations’ in the the website’s search engine and it will list out the links to the donations websites.
  • They make use of web 2.0 whereby at the top of the website, they post pictures for people to  see. This makes it more interesting rather than just a non-moving image.
  • They make use of the google street directory which makes it easier for people to confirm where the place is exactly located at. Futhermore, people can know the places which are nearby there.

Guest Speaker!

December 30, 2009 at 4:27 pm (Uncategorized)

During his presentation, he mentioned about building up the portfolio and letting people know how well are you with the media tools. To let people know of your work, advertising is one way. You can advertise through blog, facebook and other various social networks. You can also spread at forums, telling people about your website. Benchmark your price and it is beneficial to add social media to web (e.g: Twitter). We must also know what the client wants in his/her website.

The things that inspired me was that I got to know that he was the one who did the ‘XiaXue.blogspot.com’. The website looks ‘bling-bling’. He started freelance web design since 1999 and now he’s the CEO of a company! By designing web, he can earn like maximum of 2000 SINGAPORE dollars! For one website though.

It is useful to have a guest speaker who can inspire you to be a web designer and have a great job with GREAT money. When the ‘experienced’ person shares about tips and tricks of the trade, we get to know what we have to do and how we can improve ourselves.

-While studying, try freelance then work in a company

-Get use to the fact that people expect more

business-puzzle

In the past, companies rely on crafted press releases or flashy ad campaigns to communicate with their customers. People today demand honesty with the companies which they do business. From trying to sell to customers, companies now need to use sites like Facebook and Twitter to interact with people. The most popular brands in social media tend to post less about their products as their main goal is more to engaging such that people feel more comfortable doing business with those companies.

Businesses began to see that rather than spending lots of money on traditional ad campaigns, small acts through sites like Facebook and Twitter are more valuable because people share experiences. When a customer shares about the experience, even small issues become important.

The goal to being the most popular companies in the era of social media is not to be very controlled that everyone in a company tries to strengthen. Instead, companies should give employees the means necessary to be human beings that can put a friendly face on the corporation.

It is no longer enough to have an email address and customer service number on one’s website. People want to interact with businesses via their chosen means of communication.
